On July 1, 2016, GB/T32201-2015 "Gas Flowmeters" officially began to be implemented. This standard is drafted on the basis of the international recommendations OIMLR137-1&2:2012 of the international legal metrology organization OIML. It involves all principle types of gas flow meters except liquid gas, multiphase gas, steam flow meters and compressed natural gas (CNG) dispensers. It is a national standard for universal gas flow meters.

 In 2016, there were both opportunities and challenges for the development of China's equipment industry. The expansion of today's automation testing technology, safety instrumentation technology, sensor technology, automation control technology, and other technologies has brought great opportunities for the development of the instrumentation industry. The current instrument and meter industry in China has low technological content, low product quality and reliability, poor innovation ability, and low international market competitiveness. Nowadays, it is necessary to pay attention to technological development, talent cultivation, application and market expansion in the field. This is also a solution to the difficulties in China's instrument and meter industry, in order to jointly promote the future development of the industry.

With the promotion of the construction of an environmentally friendly country by the country, various parts of the country are vigorously constructing sewage treatment projects. Taking Shenzhen as an example, in order to better cooperate with the supervision of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Water Affairs on sewage treatment, implement national measurement regulations, and create a fair, just, scientific, and trade settlement environment, the flow meters used for trade settlement in sewage treatment plants are regularly calibrated.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the "1+X" planning system of Made in China 2025 has been released. "1" in the planning system refers to "Made in China 2025", and "X" refers to five major project implementation guidelines, two special action guidelines and four development planning guidelines.
